Escape.
Escape from war, from greed. Escape from technocrats and tyrants. Escape from a world that was no longer friendly... No longer inhabitable.
Sanctuary.
A world that, while small, was inhabitable. But it was not their destination. Not originally. However, an error in calculation forced a landing, forced the usage of too much fuel to keep the residents of the ship alive. The Horus hit the ground, hard enough to damage systems critical to its takeoff, making it nothing more than a hunk of metal. None of its inhabitants were lost, thankfully, but they could not be rescued either by their fellow ships, and had to be left behind.
Now, they live and work out of the ruined hulk of metal that was once a proud space exploring ship, attempting to pick up the pieces and find a way to live and thrive on this new, unknown world...
The landing happened in the middle of a lush forest of deciduous trees, leaving a trail of downed ones in its wake. A large clearing has been made by busy hands. Seen as the ship was landing, a lake to the north, with a small island in the middle of it, as well as a number of islands out in the ocean to the west. There seems to be some sort of swamp to the east of the clearing, but as of yet, no one has been brave enough to go explore it.
Strange sounds have been heard during the night, suspiciously like roars, and some inhabitants report a weird noise that seems to be within their head as well, a sing-song noise that has been dismissed by the medics as a product of the crash.
